BIRTHDAY

It's that time of the year again when I come to the realization of my transition from a girl into a woman.( Even the word 'transition' sounds old). No matter how hard I try to adjust my head to the fact that I am a grown woman now, my head won't agree I am just as Naomy as I was some 10 years ago.

Birthdays come with mixed feelings. You just love the attention, gifts and the euphoria of the moment but somewhere in your head, you are thinking; "No kidding girl you're getting old."

Confession time! So here are somethings I thought I would have done or would be at this age.

1. I thought I would have a beach house already. Yes! You heard me right. 😶 A glass house on a beach in Paris probably with Alexa, my virtual assistant playing me cool songs every morning as I wake up to the water view.

Anyway, at least I sometimes wake up to see pools of water caused by rain fall at night. My dear, water is water whether beach water or rain water.

2. I thought I would be waking up this morning to one prince charming husband serving me breakfast in bed. Well, I did wake up this morning to the snore of a girl I'll rather not share her name for security reasons. (If the aroma of good food cooked by prince charming does not wake you up, a snore from an amazing friend would. After all, you smell and snore with the nose, what's the difference?)

3. At this age, I should have started my vlog. Sadly, I still haven't, don't ask why.

4. Naomy still can't drive, but the narrative changes soon. I'm adding that to my 2021 goal.

5. This one I am about to share ehn! Just sip water before you read it. I still have not travelled outside the four walls of this country. Shocking right? Well, I love Nigeria so much that I am trying to fix my country. Yes! That's how loyal I am.

6. I still haven't met Messi and Chimamanda, but I will soon enough.

7. I still can't speak Hausa and French. I need free classes.

8. I thought I would be an aunt already so someone can call me "aunty" but my siblings disappointed me.

I'll stop there. Here are somethings I did and I am super proud

1. I can finally prepare custard that has no lumps. If that isn't an achievement, I don't know what is. (I can officially say I am ready for marriage.)

2. I dared to lock my hair and I am loving the new look. (This is why I should start my vlog, so I can share my dreadlock journey with you.)

3. I finally watched all the Game of Thrones seasons during the lock down. Don't we just serve a living God?

4. I wrote several books that would soon be published.

5.I finally travelled out of the country but it was in my dream.

So guys, a new chapter has opened for me and trust me when I say this chapter is interesting and suspense filled. I absolutely love November 9, it is the day I get to say and hear the craziest stuffs about me.

Don't worry, next year I would host dinner for 5 or 6, and you just might make the list. Drop a comment if you'll love to be served fried frogs with hot dogs.
